A Letter To My GG’s, Friends and Nashville Family [NEWS]

Posted in news

I need to share with my GG’s that beginning August 1st, 2014 I will no longer be an active day to day partner at Goodbuy Girls. I will still be procuring treasures to send to GG Owner Tanya, including items from my line FREE GIRL NOW and helping her with digital marketing. I have been able to do so much unexpectedly with the shop over the last five years but now it’s time to fulfill my other dream of living on the beach. I’ll miss looking out the GG window and seeing Uncle Bil checking in on everyone and Meg coming up with brand name candy in her overalls but my new view is helping make it slightly less hard on me.

View from the Tech Start-Up at “Silicon Beach”, Venice, CA I’m doing contracting for, amongst many other fun and challenging gigs.

If you would have told me 8 years ago when I moved to Nashville from Philadelphia that I’d still be here in 2014 I would not have believed you. I knew Tanya was going to be my best friend when we first met in a Finance class at MTSU and some mossy-oak-hat-dad-sunglasses-on-a-neon-cord wearing bro made fun of my outfit and she defended me. I’m so proud of what Tanya and I built literally on nothing other than passion, hard work and support from a handful of initial supporters (thanks moms and pals!).  Who knew only spending $300 on advertising and me being our in-house-publicist would turn into mentions in national magazines like Southern Living, Glamour, Lucky, and most recently Nylon (a dream for 16 year old me). We even had a brief stint of syndication on FOX Business News Channel Globally. So surreal and pleasantly unexpected.

OMG. 24 and 23 yrs old first day opening a store Feb 13th, 2009. Having full time jobs too. Had no idea. Got that display case from a tanning place in Donelson.

I could go on forever but I just want everyone to know that I’m so appreciative of our last 5 years together.  Whether it was support or even the lack of support from some it only made me want to keep going and helped me get to this amazing place I’m in now.

Speaking at GMA’s Tory Johnson’s women’s conference. We were so nervous, the ladies kept asking us how we seemed so collected. We were honest and told them we went to the bar prior to going on stage.

So as my friend Tom say’s it’s time to go be with the Wildflowers and I leave you with this Billy Joel video because I hate feelings and don’t want to cry anymore, the Lord and Tanya knows I’ve done enough of that leading up to this very hard decision.

Thank you Nashville, I’ll be back soon.

Xoxo,

Kimberly Faye Davison

Elvis met Priscilla in 1959 while he was stationed in Germany during his stint in the army. Much has been made of the fact that Priscilla was only 14 when the pair was introduced, but the young girl was mature for her age, and Elvis was mindful of the implications of the situation.

Priscilla was photographed by the press at the airport when Elvis left for America, and some of those photos ended up in LIFE magazine. Beyond this, there was surprisingly little publicity about their relationship.

Elvis loused around for awhile but always kept in touch.

Then, one day in March 1962, after several months without contact, Elvis called Priscilla out of the blue and invited her to join him in Los Angeles. Simultaneously stunned and overjoyed, she pointed out that, although her mother might be receptive to this idea, it would be nearly impossible to persuade her father, Captain Paul Beaulieu. It was a challenge Elvis seemed happy to accept.

While Priscilla prevailed upon her mother, Elvis spoke with the Captain several times and finally won him over by agreeing to a list of rules: the two-week-long vacation wouldn’t take place until Priscilla was out of school for the summer; Elvis would send her a first-class round-trip ticket; the Beaulieus would be provided with a comprehensive itinerary of her daily activities in Los Angeles; she would be chaperoned everywhere; she’d write to her parents every day; and at night she’d stay with his friends, George and Shirley Barris. Which is what happened…for the most part.

One evening shortly before Christmas 1966, Elvis went down on one knee in the bedroom at Graceland and proposed to Cilla. Then he slipped a ring on her finger. Purchased from jeweler Harry Levitch, the ring featured a 31/2-carat diamond encircled by a row of smaller, detachable diamonds. Just over seven years after her first meeting with Elvis, Priscilla’s early fantasies became reality.

Finally, Elvis Presley married Priscilla Beaulieu on May 1, 1967 in Las Vegas.

The wedding itself took place on Monday, May 1, 1967. Elvis filmed Clambake in Los Angeles while Colonel Parker made the wedding arrangements. The ceremony took place at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas, in the small second-floor suite of the Colonel’s friend, owner Milton Prell.
